Outside Plant: Railroad Plow

EXPERIENCE + INNOVATION = EFFICIENCY
Developed by Henkels & McCoy over thirty years ago, the Railroad Mounted Cable Plow provides railroads with a revolutionary way to install underground --

• Power cable

• Signal and communications facilities

• Vacant duct

along railroad rights-of-way.

CUSTOMER BENEFITS

Peace of Mind / Safety Focus / Cost Effectiveness
During 30 plus years experience on rights-of-way throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico, we have successfully managed every type of operational and physical challenge. In addition, our extensive working knowledge of railroad procedures, practices, and safety requirements translate into both cost and time efficiencies for our customers.

Efficiency / Flexibility / Speed
The ability to plow either side of the track (without having to reverse the train) with plow arms that can extend out to a range of 15 feet enables the placement of as many as 18 innerduct (capable of carrying thousands of cable strands) to a depth of up to six feet while efficiently maneuvering around obstacles close to the tracks and reaching beyond buried cables.

Feet per day is now miles per day.

Quality Control / Ease of Installation and Restoration / Prompt Response
Plow configuration is specifically designed to minimize tension and bending of the cable or conduit while burying plastic warning tape along with the cable as an identification marker for future excavation.
In rough terrain, a pre-rip pass can be executed before the cable is plowed. Several hydraulic levers control the operation of the blade, allowing the operator to avoid obstructions in the roadbed. In most cases, little or no roadbed restoration is required.

With multiple plows, highly trained crews, and a true national presence, our ability to execute virtually any size project is unparalleled.
